VOTING INFORMATION
The Court of Criminal Appeals is the highest criminal court in Texas. It has the last word on matters of Texas criminal law. Like the Supreme Court of Texas, it is a statewide court with nine members, three of whom are elected every two years. The Court of Criminal Appeals has the discretion to review the decisions of the 14 regional courts of appeals. It also has original jurisdiction over direct appeals of capital murder convictions in which the death penalty was assessed and post-conviction writs of habeas corpus.
